FRESHLY SQUEEZED POMEGRANATE JUICEWhen I have some extra time in the morning before heading off to work, I like to indulge a little and make fresh squeezed juice. One my favorites is fresh-squeezed pomegranate juice. It can be a little time-consuming and messy but it's worth it in the end. This is how I juice mine.
- Apply pressure to the pomegranate, kind of how you would if you were trying to bruise an apple. This breaks open the seeds inside that are filled with juice.
- Carefully cut the pomegranate in half; if you applied enough pressure, some juice is already going to start to come out.
- Squeeze the half into a sieve placed over a bowl. Empty any clinging seeds into the sieve (avoid the white pulp) and with a spoon, smash any un-juiced seeds.
- Toss the rind and pulp and pour the juice into a cup. I've found one pomegranate to make about 6 ounces. And enjoy!
